After receiving an art scholarship, Manuel Hinojosa earned his degree in Fine Arts from Pan American University. Enrolling at the University of Southern Louisiana in Lafayette, he added a degree in Architecture. Now in his 40th year of practicing Architecture, he serves as the District Architect for the Brownsville Independent School District. For his contributions to the field of architecture and cultural preservation, he was named a distinguished “Fellow” of the American Institute of Architects (FAIA) in 2009. It is Hinojosa’s artistic abilities that have received national recognition. His paintings have not only attracted the likes of Beckett Sports magazine, who have printed various pieces including Mickey Mantle, David Robinson, Dan Marino, etc., but also created an impressive sports museum housing many of his autograph paintings collected over the last four decades. Hinojosa most renown work of art is the Tom Landry mural in Mission which was dedicated by Tom Landry in 1985. Hinojosa alongside his wife, Norma and brother Rick co-owned Doubleday’s Bar of Champions and Museum in Port Isabel. The museum exhibits the largest sports memorabilia collection in Texas. <h3> “To Dream, Diversify and never miss an angle.” – Walt Disney </h3> From an early age, Manuel Hinojosa dreamed of being a part of the magical Walt Disney experience. In 1964, Hinojosa booked a bus trip (as a dishwasher to afford the fare) to the New York City’s World’s Fair to witness the first installation of Disney’s “It’s a Small World.” In 1965, he entered the celebrated gates of the Magic Kingdom in Anaheim. Manuel knew then that the world of imagination was where he wanted to venture, and thus began his lifelong journey into his love of art. Early in his childhood, Hinojosa’s parents followed the advice of his fifth-grade teacher to enroll him into private art classes. Mission’s renowned oil painter, Ann Doffing, was the chosen tutor. For the next six years she instructed Hinojosa about the tools and secrets of oil painting. Prior to his graduation from high school, he competed with other South Texas artists and was awarded a college art scholarship to Pan American College. Later receiving a Bachelors of Fine Arts, Hinojosa pursued a master’s program but instead enrolled into the University of Southern Louisiana’s Architecture school. Using the left side of his brain to compensate for the lessor exercised analytical opposite, Hinojosa persevered through the five years of the critical curriculum demanded by the university’s architectural studies. He completed his professional degree receiving its highest award, the Alpha Rho Chi. For the last forty years, Hinojosa has had the fortuitous privilege to have worked with some of the best firms in the state of Texas. Hinojosa also received the national distinction of “Fellow” as bestowed by the American Institute of Architects with the acronym title attachment of “FAIA”. “Working as an Architect has been the mainstay of my business practice but drawing and painting has continued to be my pastime passion.” Although Hinojosa’s successful career has been fulfilling and has allowed him to pursue facets of architectural and cultural preservation, his love for art and painting have remained at the forefront, and an important part of his life. Since the early 1990’s, Hinojosa’s art has received national recognition and has been featured on publications including Beckett Sports Magazine, various printed publications and literature, local murals, and museums. Over the last decade, Hinojosa has successfully fulfilled a lifelong dream of completing his first novel. ‘Rode Hard: The Rise and Fall of a Jockey Legend’ is a biography written about local horse jockey legend, and lifelong friend, Herberto Hinojosa. The novel received critical acclaim and is wonderfully illustrated by Hinojosa. Hinojosa alongside his wife, Norma and brother Rick co-owned Doubleday’s Bar of Champions and Museum in Port Isabel. The museum exhibits the largest sports memorabilia collection in Texas, with a curated collection of paintings by Hinojosa and autographed work collected over a lifetime.

Tom Brady is one of the best quarterbacks of all time. He's the greatest quarterback of all time for that matter, winning five Super Bowls, and now just not any ordinary Super Bowls, they were the most exciting footballs of all time. He played with New England Patriots and later in the latest survival win with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. This painting is one of my favorite paintings simply because Tom Brady signed it and I have it on display at my prime place at my Double Dave's Museum. I had the pleasure of seeing him play in Minnesota but unfortunately, it was a game where he injured himself by breaking his leg during the game against Green Bay. Admiral David Robinson!He's what started off for the San Antonio Spurs.One of the first games that I saw in San Antonio was when he was a rookie. Spurs were not well known, yet as a matter of fact, in a playoff game, I got a front-row seat to watch David Robinson.I was working for a firm that was designing the Stadium where he made his fame. This arena was a challenge for us, but I got to see Dave Roberts in many gates because he was involved in the construction. He would show up to our meetings and David Robinson was a very religious man. David was born and raised in Texas. Growing up in a small south Texas town, traveling to ranches on the weekends, created memories that have been engraved into David’s personal life and work. Hearing his grandfather tell him the history of the old west and watching old western movies influenced the creative side of his imagination deeply. These iconic images and stories are reflected in his paintings and style. David has a strong connection to horses, their rich history and their visual strength. He loves to not only ride them but also paint them. Moving out west to Los Angeles, California at 21 is where David acquired his first Japanese made Juki Sewing Machine and taught himself how to sew. He experimented with different fabrics but quickly learned that he was only interested in one of them, DENIM. He believes the beautiful washes of blue and the rugged durability of the fabric makes it a step above the others. Consequently, denim has become his canvas, washing it, painting it, cutting it and stitching it back together. David has made hundreds of different garment designs.Jackets, jeans, bags, and hats. Katharine is a native Houstonian and has lived there for the majority of her life. Beginning in high school, Katharine created doodle drawings for family and friends, which continued to her various workplaces where she would surprise coworkers with small doodles on notes on their desks.  The doodling progressed to dabbling in painting as a way to relax while working in social services and even more so while working in the Texas Legislature.     She creates art using texture, color and movement of glass. She uses glass to depict nature in abstract and realistic ways for displaying both inside and outside. She has a varied range of art from wall art, sculpted display art, jewelry, yard art and more. She loves working with glass and making your ideas become a reality.

Katharine is a visual artist. Her work is mostly contemporary abstract using acrylic paints and various mediums on canvas and wood panels. A fundamental principle in the practice of social work is to meet people where they are. In art, Katharine seeks to encourage each viewer to feel and respond to the work-based on their own experience and interpretation, meeting them where they are at for this moment in time.

Marie left Cuba at the age of 6 months and moved to Colombia, South America, where she spent her formative years.  She moved to the United States at the age of 12.  Marie earned a B. A. from the University of Houston with a major in Art History and minors in Studio Arts and Architecture.  She earned a Masters in Bilingual Education and Supervision from the University of St. Thomas, Houston.  Marie’s work has been the subject of 4 solo exhibitions and numerous group exhibits.  Her work can be found in private collections in the U.S., Canada, Colombia, Cuba, France and Sweden.  Besides her studio practice, she has also curated exhibits and has taught art in after school programs at the elementary and junior high school level. Each piece involves cutting and shaping the metal, multiple cleanings and applications of enamel, and several firings at 1400 degrees F.  Mitman’s process is solitary and introspective. She uses color fields as well as glass and enameled copper inclusions to develop art that is very personal.  “Most of my work reflects a search for peace,” she says. “There’s plenty of angst in the world; no need to add mine to the chorus. I’m always looking for the harmonious result.”  She creates art using texture, color and movement of glass. She uses glass to depict nature in abstract and realistic ways for displaying both inside and outside. She has a varied range of art from wall art, sculpted display art, jewelry, yard art and more. Rebekah Molander is a Houston-based contemporary artist whose passion for art began in childhood. Her love for creating, playing with colors, and expressing herself through her artwork was an outlet that words couldn’t match.  Rebekah’s art is typically vibrant and colorful, emphasizing growth and connection. Her style is constantly evolving, but it always centers around encapsulating her thoughts and emotions.  Together with her husband Todd and son Spencer, Rebekah has exhibited her work in numerous venues, from Tent Shows and Studio Shows to Galleries and other spaces. In 2021, she was invited to join “The Seekers,” a Houston Artist Collective founded by her friend and mentor Taft McWhorter. Rebekah also had the opportunity to work with the Paint the District Pink Charity Art Action Event for Susan G. Komen.  Rebekah’s artwork has been featured in several publications, including “The Leader,” “VoyageHouston,” “The Houston Chronicle,” and “50 Artists Houston.” She continues to display her art in various studios and galleries around Houston, and she enjoys using her artistic talents to raise funds for charitable organizations.  Rebekah’s artwork is created using glass as her primary medium, and she enjoys exploring texture, color, and movement in her work. She specializes in depicting nature abstractly and realistically, creating everything from wall art and sculptures to jewelry and yard art. She enjoys the challenge of bringing her clients’ ideas to life and working with glass.

Suzy's love for creativity and art has been a significant part of her life from an early age. Her passion for creating beautiful things led her to become a successful hairstylist and salon owner at a young age. Suzy found great fulfillment in organizing hair and fashion shows to raise funds for charitable causes, including the "Aid to Abused Children" nonprofit organization. Later on, Suzy joined her husband in the real estate business, where she was able to use her creative skills and love for helping people to stage homes and organize special events. Despite the challenges that came with 2020, Suzy found solace in her art, which became her "happy place." Throughout her life, Suzy has made sure to keep art at the forefront of her mind. She has taken drawing lessons and painted whenever she could. Now that her children have grown and moved out, Suzy is able to focus on her art with even more dedication. She believes that everyone should have handmade art in their home to create comfort, positive memories, and inspiration. Suzy creates her art pieces with excitement and love, hoping that they will bring joy to their new owners.

It is passion that drives me. I have had the desire to shape and expand myself and the world  around me since I was a child; always searching; continuously creating. From building with  legos, to forming bands in high school, to founding new businesses in my adult years, my path  has always included the pursuit of passion and experiential growth. Along with art, my passions  are family, friends, philanthropy and surfing.    Arriving in the art business in 2006, I have pursued being a professional artist with abandon,  studying with fellow artists and constantly exhibiting my work. With over 100 solo, joint and  group exhibits under my belt and over 700 local and national collectors, my sights are set on  evolving my career on a national basis and providing other artists with a platform for thriving in  the ever changing art business.    The eclectic variety in my numerous styles is the product of allowing mistakes to be a part of the  art making process. I embrace the dichotomy of vision versus freedom; control versus chaos. In  the spirit of freedom and chaos, I employ a plethora of textures, colors and mediums while trying  not to limit myself to any single style or form.    Franz Kline, Gerhard Richter, Jackson Pollock and David Adickes have been my main artistic  influences. My styles encompass abstract, folk and impressionism. My mediums include  acrylics, epoxy resin, latex and watercolor.    My artwork is simply an extension of my life and personality. My paintings represent whatever  it is I am feeling at the time. One layer at a time, I allow each painting to simply “become”.  Through a combination of variety, depth and the pursuit of experiential growth, each piece of art  becomes unique in technique, style and emotion. 

Taft McWhorter has been a prominent contemporary artist for over 15 years, during which he has amassed a significant following of more than 700 international collectors. In 2014, he was recognized as one of the Top 10 Artists in Houston by the Houston Press, cementing his place in the art world. Moreover, his philanthropic efforts earned him a spot on the Houston Chronicle's list of Houston's 40 Most Fascinating People in 2015. Taft, along with his wife Dana, has raised over $700,000 for charitable causes by donating his artwork. Throughout his career, Taft has collaborated with notable companies such as BMW, Porsche, The Houston Astros, and Luby's, to name a few. His large-scale pieces have been featured in major hotels and restaurants across the United States, including properties of Westin and JW Marriott. He has held over 100 exhibitions, displaying his unique style and vision for art. Taft and Dana McWhorter have now turned their focus to supporting other artists by creating a platform called "The Seekers," which serves as a Houston Artist Collective. The collective provides a space for artists to showcase their work and thrive, fostering a sense of community in the art world. Taft's passion for art has allowed him to create a career that he loves, inspiring others and giving back to his community along the way. With private studios in Los Angeles and Houston, Taft continues to create art that sparks conversation and inspires others to pursue their passions.
